Illegal parking at slots for special needs people is a criminal offence
 
Unauthorized parking at places designated for special needs people and civil defense operations could lead to criminal charges, warns the Abu Dhabi traffic and patrols department.
 
Major Jamal Al Ameri, public relations director at the traffic and patrols department said that those found violating the parking regulations in such cases will be fined dh500 and will face severe punishment for the repeated violation.
 
The motorists who prevent rescue workers from carrying out their operations also will invite such penalties and punishments, he added. They also will face criminal charges from civil defense authorities with fines up to 10,000 and jail incase the illegal parking has led to causalities.
 
Impersonating a special needs person will also be considered as a criminal offence .special permits are provided for the special needs people. He advised the motorists to strictly adhere to the parking regulations and avoid charges and hampering emergency operations.
