Four deaths in a week in capital

41 injured in road accidents

Four persons died and 41 were injured in various road accidents in the capital in the last one week.

According to Abu Dhabi Traffic Police, 31 accidents were reported between February 7 and 13 caused mostly by drivers jumping red lights, collisions and tailing and tyre burst. Police said two of the dead were UAE nationals, one was an Asian and one an Arab.

Of the 41 injured, two suffered serious injuries .the traffic police urged drivers and motorists to follow traffic rules strictly,

Several highly sophisticated cameras and radars have been placed to control speeding. Abu Dhabi Traffic Police said that the number of people who died in road accidents in 2003 was less than that of the previous year.

The department has recently, started a campaign against road violations.
