The Forensic Evidence Department at the Directorate General of Security and Ports Affairs carried out a successful mock drill to evacuate the directorate’s building. The drill was conducted under the supervision of the CBRN Materials Response Task Force, affiliated with the Department of Emergency and Public Safety at the Directorate General of Central Operations.

Colonel Abdul Rahman Al Hammadi, Head of the Forensic Evidence Department, noted that the mock evacuation drill and scenario come in pursuance of the environment, health and safety management system and the procedures for maintaining the international accreditation for the Environmental - Health & Safety Standards OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001. Al Hammadi also stressed that the Abu Dhabi Police strategy aims to establish public safety across all facilities, according to security scenarios and plans to apply the highest standards of police work, as per the best international standards.  

The drill focused on testing the efficiency of the security plans, assessing the response time for dealing with these types of incidents and the means to handle chemicals. It also aimed at testing the efficiency of the fire systems and assessing the readiness of the security and safety team to handle accidents and emergencies.
