Drop in road fatalities 
 
Road fatalities in Abu Dhabi have come down by 9 percentage during the year 2006 in comparison to the previous year according to the traffic and patrolling department at the General headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police.
 
Colonel Gaith Al Zaabi, director of the traffic and patrolling department said that death rate by road accidents also have come down by 4 percentage and minor injuries by 12 percentages during the year 2006.
 
He said that reckless driving is the main reason for such fatalities and called upon the motorists to strictly adhere to the traffic rules and regulations and make our road safe for all the road uses. Fines for traffic violations will be raised to 500dhs as minimum and will go up to 3000 according to the seriousness of the violations he added.
