Community Policing key to solving Citizen’s problems
Social support center deals with more than 1,500 cases
Set up in 2003 under the directives of Lt.Gen.Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister of Interior, the Abu Dhabi Social Support Center give a helping hand to its citizens says Lt.Col.Najm Abdullah Al Hosni, Chief of the community Police department, and head of the Center.
The first Social Support Center was set up in Al Ain in 2003 and a second one was set up in Abu Dhabi in 2004, another center will be set up in Beida Zayed in the beginning of the next year.
Family problems topped the issues coming to the center. Large numbers of cases were solved by counseling over the phone by experts and keep receiving a flood of calls he added.
The whole idea of introducing the concept was to protect and rehabilitate the victims of crime and take preventive measures. People have trust in us, when they have a domestic problem they seek our help .the two centers have so far received 1,582 cases which was successfully resolved. Said, Al Hosni.
