The Media Affairs Department at the General Directorate of Civil Defense organized a blood drive, at its Abu Dhabi headquarters under the theme “My Health”, in coordination with the Blood Bank Center “Seha” at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC).

The drive aims to strengthen the spirit of giving among staff members and promote social responsibility and humanitarian values. It also aims at raising their awareness about the health benefits and humanitarian aspect of donating blood, as a major life saving factor for many people.

The drive witnessed a wide participation of officers, non-commissioned officers, constables, civilians and workers from the General Directorate of Civil Defense.

Lt. Colonel Abdullah Al Tikawi, Head of the Media Affairs Department at the General Directorate of Civil Defense, hailed the sizeable participation, noting that donating blood is a noble humanitarian deed that could save thousands of patients. He also explained that the drive reflects the leadership’s firm belief in instilling a sense of responsibility among staff members, and its ongoing efforts to be an active component of society that serves all community sectors.

The Blood Bank Center “Seha” thanked the staff of the General Directorate of Civil Defense for their participation; lauding the role of the Ministry of Interior in this regard, being  one of the most supportive institutions of the blood bank. In conclusion, both parties exchanged commemorative shields and gifts.
