Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior, met with the leaders of GCC and Arab delegations participating as observers in the joint exercise, which was carried out by the UAE search and rescue team and its Saudi counterpart, in Al Shalila - Abu Dhabi.

During the meeting, which was held at the ministry, Lt. General Al Sha’far exchanged talks with his visitors on ways to develop search and rescue efforts in disaster situations, and to enhance collaboration in this field in a way that serves humanitarian work, in the region and all over the world; in accordance with the United Nation’s efforts to improve the efficiency and speed of response of search and rescue operations.

The participating delegations included Lieutenant General Talal Abdullah Al Kofahi, Director General of the Jordanian Civil Defense; Major General Abid Al Sekhairi, Director of the Civil Defense Department in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Major General Abdullah bin Ali Al Harthy, Chairman  of the Public Authority of Civil Defense and Ambulance in the Sultanate of Oman; Brigadier Mohammed Showaiter, Director General of  Civil Defense in Bahrain; and Colonel Khalil Al Amir, from the Kuwait Fire Service Directorate.

The meeting was attended by Major General, Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations at the Abu Dhabi Police, and Colonel Hussein Mahmoud Al Awadhi, Acting Head of the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior.
