The Al Ain Traffic Section at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, Abu Dhabi Police, organized a traffic awareness campaign in the Green Mubazzarah Park in Al Ain City. As part of the campaign, 300 awareness brochures were distributed to motorists to educate them on need to leave sufficient distance between vehicles to enhance their safety.

First Lieutenant Nasser Khalifa Al Shamesi, Public Relations Branch Manager at Al Ain Traffic Section, noted that the campaign is in pursuance of the strategic plan aimed at raising awareness about the risks of failing to observe a safe breaking distance between vehicles, which could cause traffic accidents resulting in deaths and serious injuries.

First Lieutenant Al Shamesi stressed the Traffic and Patrols Directorate’s keenness to enhance traffic-related safety awareness and the need to leave sufficient safe distance between vehicles. “Increasing vehicle-to-vehicle distance should be commensurate with the speed increase of the traffic flow and according to the weather and road conditions. This would allow drivers to control their vehicle, should the vehicle in front stops abruptly,” explained First Lieutenant Al Shamesi.

Furthermore, First Lieutenant Al Shamesi indicated that failure to observe safe breaking distance between vehicles incurs a Dh400 fine and four black points demerit on the license. In conclusion, he urged drivers to abide by traffic laws so as to maintain their safety and the safety of other road users and achieve an accidents-free society.
