The Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi represented by Al Ain Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department is participating in the national initiative aimed at preserving and archiving personal records (Watheq) that is organized by the National Archives affiliated to the Ministry of Presidential Affairs.

Colonel Khalifa Matar Balquba' Al Humairi, Head of the Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department in Al Ain, announced that the department’s participation in the campaign falls within its efforts to communicate  with partners in support of the national initiatives organized at the countrywide level.  He expressed his pride and appreciation for the National Archives to have honored the Al Ain Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department by selecting it to launch the “Watheq” national campaign for personal records in the city of Al Ain and the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs Section.

Adding further, Colonel Al Humairi said that the Al Ain Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department seeks to enhance and develop relations with partners for the service to of society, in line with the Ministry of Interior’s strategy. “The ‘Watheq’ initiative is a leading and distinguished national project aimed, not only at preserving personal records, but also at preserving our young nation’s long history of civilization and glory for future generations. It is also intended to preserve ongoing, reference and historical records that document the establishment of government institutions and government work since the inception of the Union, and to maintain the memory of the country, its institutions and the generations that were established with the Union,” he noted.

During a tour on the project’s platform, Adnan Al Falassi, Head of the Corporate Relations Section at the National Archives, briefed Colonel Al Humairi and the department’s officers, on the campaign, its goals and the phases already completed on the countrywide level. Al Falassi also presented Colonel Al Humairi with a commemorative shield and a set of the National Archives’ publications.

The “Watheq” Campaign is a leading national project aimed at collecting, archiving and protecting the personal documents of UAE citizens, and encouraging them to preserve their valuable documents and immortalizing the country’s national heritage by preserving, renovating and maintaining their documents and records.

The National Archives’ team of experienced specialists will provide an overview of the campaign, its goals and its beneficiaries during the week-long visit to the Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department in Al Ain. They will also distribute the special preservation boxes created to preserve valuable documents, to citizen customers and employees.
