Abu Dhabi declaration on traffic safety
 
The Officials of the world traffic safety society along with the secretary general of the emirates traffic safety society announced the Abu Dhabi traffic safety declaration based on the recommendations of the 10th PRI world congress held during early this year.
 
This was announced at a press conference held at the emirates palace hotel yesterday. Speaking to the press Brigadier Hasan Al Housani highlighted the support the organization has been receiving from His Highness General Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed forces as well as his highness Lt.Gen Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan, the Minister of Interior. Others present and spoke to the press included Mr.Triogosso the PRI President,Dr.Dennis ,Chairman of the scientific committee of the PRI,Mr.Afif Al Fikri,the President of the Arab road safety organization and Dr.Ala from Jordan.
 
The Highlights of the declaration includes the decision to take strategic initiatives to introduce vision zero a step by step to reduce road accidents by 50 percent over a period of 10 years and reach zero vision.
 
Obtain political and resource support from the local and international organizations for the efforts of the PRI for implementing the 5E programs at the local, regional and international levels.
 
The meeting also hailed the support given in principle by His Highnesses Sheik Mohammed and Sheikh Saif for setting up a traffic safety research institute in the emirates in due course of time.
 
The PRI President appreciated the media and the officials of the emirates traffic safety society for their efforts and cooperation in implementing the road safety programs of the world body.
