The Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi organized visits for its employees and their families to the Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival 2014, which is held in the Al Wathba area in Abu Dhabi and scheduled to conclude tomorrow.

Colonel Salim Ali Al Qattam Al Zaabi, Director General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi, indicate that the directorate has organized the Festival visits out of its keenness to spread and reinforce the national identity.

He explained that this year’s edition of the festival allowed employees and their families to experience the spirit of the UAE national heritage. The festival was also the perfect opportunity for them to socialize; enjoy the several interactive activities and live attractions; and get acquainted with the diverse environments that shaped early life in the UAE, through replicas of old villages and settlements, with traditional tools and artefacts. The employees and their families also visited the ‘Memories of a Nation’ exhibition, which displays rare documents and historical photographs to celebrate the UAE’s history and honor the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Among the other attractions enjoyed by the Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs’ employees and their families are the ‘Ahmad ibn Majid: the Emirati Navigator’s Museum’; ‘Al Majidi ibn Daher: the Emirati Poet’s Museum’; and many other activities.
