During the first preparatory meeting, the Sports Activity Section, at the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development at the Ministry of Interior, discussed plans for the Director Generals shield championships at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, for the 2016 sports season. The meeting was held at the Police Staff Club in Abu Dhabi.

Colonel Mohammed Hamid Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General at the Ministry of Interior, explained that organizing sports championships at the level of Directors General at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters effectively contributes to building police staff members’ character.. He continued: “Sports activities also have a significant role in promoting self-confidence and reinforcing the principle of fair competition among all of Abu Dhabi Police staff members.”

During the meeting, seven sports championships were approved, as a part of the Directors General shield for the upcoming 2016 sports season. The championships are as follows: the Commander-in-chief Shield Championship; the Director General of Police Operations Shield Championship; the Director General of Guards and Special Tasks Shield Championship; the Director General of Finance and Services Shield Championship; the Director General of Ports and Airports Security Shield Championship; the Director General of Central Operations Shield Championship and the Director General of Human Resources Shield Championship. The meeting also discussed the proper mechanism to establish sports committees, the tasks entrusted to these committees, their work mechanism and the suggested sports activities within the Directors General shields championships.
