The Abu Dhabi Police GHQ recently participated in the 5th International Disaster and Risk Conference (IDRC), which took place in Switzerland.

Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations, stressed the importance of participating in such prestigious international conferences. “These conferences represent the perfect opportunity to exchange experiences, review the latest developments, and hone the skills and knowledge of the participating officers, in a way that reflects the civilized image of Emiratis and their efforts in various fields, in accordance with the best international standards,” indicated Major General Al Raisi.

These remarks were made by Major General Al Raisi, as he met in his office with Major Abdullah Ali Al Saghiri, Planning and Follow-up Branch Manager at the UAE Search and Rescue Team Section; who led the UAE delegation to the conference. Major Al Saghiri presented Major General with a booklet that includes an overview of the conference’s major themes and highlights the nature of Abu Dhabi Police’s participation in the various activities.

Major Al Saghiri briefed Major General Al Raisi about the paper he submitted at the conference, which focused on skills development and early warning system for natural disasters in the Middle East. Moreover, he stressed the importance of institutional cooperation and coordination to counter such cases.

On the same note, Major Al Saghiri explained the biennial International Disaster and Risk Conference (IDRC) highlights the most important topics and solutions to manage risks and reduce disasters. Several countries are keen to take part in the conference to share and discuss new findings in the area of disaster and risk management, through numerous workshops held on the sidelines of the conference, under the patronage of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) in Geneva.
