The Operations Department at the General Directorate of Central Operations in the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters won the 8th Iron Man Tournament. The Government and Diplomatic Premises Protection Department placed second, while the Police Schools Department placed third.

The tournament that was organized by the Sports Activity Section at the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development in the Bahia Region was held within the sports activity program with the participation of 13 departments.

On the individual level of the championship, Sergeant Saud Al Zaabi from the Operations Department came in first place; First Sergeant Abdullah Al Luqayti from the Police Schools Department came in the second place, and Sergeant Naif Al Marzouqi from the Western Region Police Directorate came in third place.

During the coronation of the winners, Brigadier Saeed Saif Al Nuaimi, Head of the Procurement and Warehouses Department at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, said: “Physical fitness is one of the most important aspects of a successful police officer, as these officers are able to not only cope with the challenges and pressures of the work but they are also able to perform with high spirits.” He continued by pointing out that sports are an important factor in enhancing productivity due to its positive effects on an individual’s livelihood and wellbeing.

Colonel Mohammed bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General, said that the Iron Man Tournament is one of the most important tournaments, as it depends on the competitor’s physical strength, endurance, and skill in order to pass through the stages of the race. “The tournament not only develops the physical performance and fitness of the police, but its benefits are also reflected positively in their duties and in their fields of work,” he said.

The meeting was attended by Major Mohammed Al Falahi, Chief of the Sports Activities Section in Abu Dhabi Police, and Captain Jamal Al Saadi, National Teams and Competitions Branch Manager.
