The Abu Dhabi Police GHQ organized a workshop to discuss the required mechanism to prepare, update and review the strategic plan 2015-2019. The workshop, which was held by the Strategy and Performance Development General Directorate, under the slogan “Environmental Analysis and Planning” (The Start), was inaugurated by His Excellency Mohammed Khalfan Matar Al Rumaithi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police.
H.E Al Rumaithi noted that this workshop comes at a time when it is significantly necessary to review, update and develop strategic plans to keep pace with the rapid developments of world events, with a view to seek access a safe and peaceful life for all individuals residing in the UAE.
He added: “The higher leadership has dedicated special attention to developing strategic plans for all federal and local government agencies. It has particularly made sure to introduce these plans to all concerned entities, whether customers, partners or employees. These efforts culminated with the launch of the ‘UAE Vision 2021’.”
The workshop was attended by Major General Khalil Dawood Badran, Director General of Finance and Services; Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Director General of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police; Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations; Brigadier Fares Khalifa Al Farsi, Director General of Guards and Special Tasks at Abu Dhabi Police; and Brigadier General Dr. Saif Bu Dhufaira Al Ameri, Director General of Security and Ports Affairs. Also attending were the coordinators of strategic goals and strategic planning departments, as well as a large number of officers, non-commissioned officers, civilians and experts.
Colonel Faisal Sultan Al Shuaibi, Director of Strategy and Performance Development at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, indicated that the attendees discussed the means to align the strategy of Abu Dhabi Police GHQ with the UAE strategy 2021, the Ministry of Interior’s strategy and the Abu Dhabi plan in the area of security, justice and safety.
Furthermore, he highlighted that the workshop tackled the strategic planning mechanism for 2015-2019, according to the methodology for preparing, updating and reviewing the strategic plan. Participants reviewed the vision, mission and values and presented a set of proposals to update the vision, in line with the higher leadership’s aspirations to achieve the UAE Vision 2021.
Major Bader Nasser Al Nuaimi, Chief of the Strategic Development Section at the Strategy and Performance Development General Directorate, stressed that the workshop focused on the most important inputs of the strategic planning process such as the surveys, strategy risk assessment report and the environmental analysis tools SWOT at the various directorates general. The general observations from the SWOT-PESTEL analysis were also reviewed during the workshop, so as to identify and discuss the strategic issues, the necessary mechanisms to process and approve them by the leaders, who can submit their suggestions about possible solutions and the important role of the strategic objectives’ coordinators in addressing issues during the upcoming phase.
On the same note, Captain Ali Sultan Al Nuaimi, Chief of the Performance Management Section at the Strategy and Performance Development General Directorate, highlighted the performance report outcomes for the year 2013. He also reviewed the strategic priorities implementation ratio and the key benchmarking indicators for performance.
The workshop witnessed significant interaction from the audience, especially in the hands-on exercises that were conducted. The workshop was concluded by reviewing the next phase of the strategic planning process.
