The Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters achieved a record 6% level of energy rationalization in the second quarter of 2014. This brilliant achievement was attained thanks to the diligent efforts of the various departments and staff members.

In celebration of this remarkable feat, Major General Khalil Dawood Badran, Chairman of the Green Applications Higher Committee at the Ministry of Interior hosted a ceremony to honor the distinguished police departments that contributed to energy conservation. He also honored heads of departments and work teams, for their instrumental role in improving environmental performance; emphasizing that they are a role model to be emulated by others.

He said, “Upon the insightful directions of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and in line with our keenness to implement the best green applications, preserve the environment, prevent pollution and improve environmental performance to preserve natural resources and support their sustainability for the coming generations, the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ has adopted a set of mechanisms and policies related to rationalizing of the consumption of water, electricity, fuel and paper.” He added that energy rationalization is one of the many Green Applications adopted by Abu Dhabi Police, along with the green buildings practices, modern green (energy-efficient) electronic systems and spreading energy rationalization awareness during conferences.

Major General Khalil Dawood Badran emphasized the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ’s commitment to motivate and encourage  its directorates general to adopt the best environmentally-conscious solutions and green applications in a bid to maintain a sustainable environment that improves the quality of life in the UAE in line with the Abu Dhabi government’s vision 2030. In conclusion, he reiterated the Abu Dhabi Police’s keenness to adopt green application policies and practices aimed at enhancing environmental performance, and reducing resources depletion resulting from their operations. It has also been encouraging positive practices that improve overall environmental performance across the country and achieve the UAE’s National Green Growth Strategy goals.
