The Department of Community Police at Abu Dhabi Police was crowned champion of the 13th Swimming Championship, followed by the Government and Diplomatic Premises Protection Department in second place and the Police Schools Department in third place. The championship was part of the sporting program of Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, organized by the Sports Activity Section of the Strategy and Performance Development Department, and was held at the Abu Dhabi Police Officers Club’s swimming pool on Tuesday evening.

A total of 11 departments from Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters took part in the championship, which included five different competitions: 50 meters freestyle, 50 meters backstroke, 100 meters freestyle, 50 meters freestyle relay race, and 50 meters different strokes relay.

The championship’s activities were attended by Colonel Abdul Rahman Al Hammadi, Head of the Forensic Evidence Department; Major Mohammed Al Falahi, Chief of the Sports Activities Section; and Captain Jamal Al Saadi, National Teams and Competitions Branch Manager.

Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General hailed the championship; noting that swimming is an important sport that policemen should know and practice. It is also one of the sports that serve police work and improve the sporting skills of police staff members.

For his part Captain Jamal Al Saadi, National Teams and Competitions Branch Manager, mentioned that the diversity of competitions falls within the sports activities program at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters for 2014 season. In the same context, Captain Al Saadi announced the teams that have qualified to the Quarter Finals of the Futsal Tournament that is being held at the Aisha Bint Abi Baker Secondary School, which will conclude on May 14th. They departments are: the Government and Diplomatic Premises Protection Department; the Western Region Police Directorate; the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department; the Emergency and Public Safety Department; the Operations Department; the Department of Community Police; the Capital Police Directorate; and the Peripheral Regions Directorate.
