The Punitive and Correctional Establishments Department at Abu Dhabi Police received a new batch of inmates for the rehabilitation program to join the work force upon their release. The program is conducted under the supervision of the Higher Colleges of Technology and has been well-received by the inmates.

Brigadier Mohammed Saif Matar Al Zaabi, Head of the Punitive and Correctional Establishments Department at Abu Dhabi Police, stated that the rehabilitation program received 36 inmates in batch No. 16. “The two-year long rehabilitation program prepares inmates to join the work force after completing their jail sentences and helps to facilitate their integration back into society,” he said.

Since its inception in 2007, Brigadier Al Zaabi also pointed out that the rehabilitation program has succeeded in the facilitation of employing 128 inmates following their release. He said: “the program enables inmates to use their time wisely and to invest in themselves. This not only benefits the inmate by providing them with both a certificate and an opportunity to enter the labor market, but it also benefits their families as well.” This program has achieved marked success both regionally and internationally.
