As part of its established awareness-raising plan for the first quarter of 2014, the Department of Community Police at Abu Dhabi Police has carried out four awareness campaigns. The campaigns included the “Communicate” campaign, to raise awareness of workers and different communities and featured the Cricket Championship, the Minister of Interior’s Trophy held last month. It also included the “Optimal Use of Social Media Websites” campaign, which focused on the safety of electronic devices’ users; the “Societal Head Start” campaign, which focused on acquainting school students with the dangers of drug abuse, assault and means of prevention; in addition to an awareness campaign for domestic workers, to acquaint them with the UAE society’s customs and traditions.

Lt. Colonel Mubarak Bin Muhairom, Head of Department of Community Police, said: “The awareness-raising campaigns fall in line with the police leadership’s strategy to boost communication and to engage community members. This would contribute to curbing negative behaviors and inculcating positive attitudes in community members, as well as providing them with advice and guidance to help them solve any issues and problems they may encounter; with a view to maintain security and stability.”

In conclusion, Head of Department of Community Police noted that the department continues to forge ahead with the annual plan of awareness programs for the second quarter of 2014.
