9,000 traffic tickets issued to motorists in a week

 
The traffic and patrols department at the General headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police have issued 9,000 traffic fines during the last week.
 
More than 2,000 were for not wearing seat belts and 1,763 for over speeding. The fines were issued for violations in Abu Dhabi and its suburbs excluding tariff police jurisdiction.
322 fines were issued for using mobiles while driving, 126 for not keeping the same lane and 104 for not keeping safe distance between vehicles, 16 for jumping the red lights including reckless driving.
 
The department issued 129,904 fines during the first quarter of the year with a breakup of 43,301 monthly average and more than 10,000 every week that amounted to an estimated 25 million dhs.
