71 reckless motorists undergo community service as punishment
 
About 71 reckless drivers of different nationalities were detained for a week and had to carry out community service on the capitals roads and in schools for 48 hours. Their vehicles also have been impounded for a month.
 
Of the 71, 39 were from Abu Dhabi and the remaining from Al Ain. The move was implemented as per the directives from His Highness Lt.Gen.Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister of Interior.
 
Colonel Hamed Al Shamsi, director of traffic and patrols at the Abu Dhabi police said at a press conference that a campaign had been launched to make the motorists responsible which will go on until Saturday in all parts of Abu Dhabi.
 
The campaign he said is aimed to educate the public about the implementation of directives issued by Sheikh Saif in order to curb the menace of reckless driving.
