3074 Jaywalkers fined in Abu Dhabi
 

At the end of the pedestrian safety campaign organized by the traffic and patrols department of the Abu Dhabi police, 3074 jaywalkers were fined for not using the designated places for crossing the roads which causes the pedestrian accidents.
 
Colonel Hammed Al Shamsi, director of the traffic and patrolling department at the general headquarters of Abu Dhabi police said that the campaign was a big success and it has created much needed awareness among the pedestrians the importance of using the sub ways and the zebra lines for crossing of the roads.
 
Major Awat Saif Al Balushi, head of the public relations and mass media administration said that, all cross section of the people were involved in the campaign and many informative and cautioning leaflets and pedestrian safety literatures were distributed during the campaign.
 
They lauded the mass Medias for their excellent coverage and cooperation for the campaign which helped to make the campaign a grant success. The department will continue to take strict action against the violates of road crossing regulations, they added.
