288 driving licences confiscated during 2006 
 
The traffic and licencing department at the General Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police had retained 288 driving licences from the Motorists for the serious violations of traffic rules in Abu Dhabi and its suburbs.
 
Major Yeslam Mubarak Al Thamim, Chief of the investigation section at the traffic and licencing department said that 96 licences retained were from the drivers of the six wheel truckers which were caught crossing the red signal.
 
The other 192 were for various other serious traffic violations. Such punishments will help reduce traffic violations of serious nature, he added. He also called upon the Motorists to refrain from violating the traffic rules and avoid such harsh punishments and other inconveniences.
