2,681 fines issued to taxi drivers in the capital
 
Abu Dhabi Traffic Police have issued 2,681 fines on Taxi drivers over the past three months in the capital, as they continue to be the biggest culprits in violating traffic regulations.
 
According to Lt. Col. Ahemed Abdullah Al Shehi, Head of the Traffic and Patrols at the Abu Dhabi Police, the main violations involved parking offences. Cabbies have also been fined for abruptly cutting across lanes to pick up a passenger, which often leads to serious traffic accidents. Nearly half of the taxi drivers were fined for this kind of offence.
