Two peoples were killed and 32 others injured in 26 traffic accidents in Abu Dhabi and surrounding areas from may 13 to 19.
A weekly report issued by the traffic departments stated that these accidents were caused due to violation of traffic rules and safety regulations by the motorists such as entering the road with out checking the movement of the vehicles, jumping the red signal and not maintaining safe distance between vehicles.
The nature of accidents shows that there were 16 cases of collutions, six incidents of people being run over and overturning of 4 vehicles. According to the report, Asians were the most affected by these accidents with 13 of them suffering from minor to moderate injuries.
Among violations over speeding topped the list throughout the period under review accounting for over 50 per cent tickets issued to erring motorists
