In cooperation with Abu Dhabi University, the Social Support Centers Department at Abu Dhabi Police recently organized a guidance lecture for students of Liwa Private School in Al Ain. The lecture held under the theme “Use it with caution” and was delivered by the social specialist Moza Al Qubaisi.
The lecture, which benefited 200 students, is part of the awareness campaign titled “Learn essential lessons before you suffer their consequences”, within the strategic plan for the year 2016. The plan aims at educating school and university students and raising their awareness about the damages and negative impacts of misusing modern technology. It also aims to acquaint them with the role undertaken by the Social Support Centers in boosting community awareness on the various social and family-related problems that undermine the security and stability of society.
Ms. Al Qubaisi stressed the importance of using social media with caution, validating information through websites, and refraining from spreading rumors. She also shed the light on the various types of social media and the social problems that arise from misusing them.
Towards the end of the lecture, social specialist Moza Al Qubaisi explained the procedures enforced to solve electronic problems in the UAE and the need for concerted efforts to spread awareness among community members about the safe use of Internet and other electronic means.
