Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior received on Tuesday, in his office at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, a delegation from the Emirati Community from the Austrian city of Bad Hofgastein. The delegation organized a show to acquaint Austrians with the Emirati original traditions and customs, which was highly acclaimed by the Austrian community.
His Highness Sheikh Saif commended the initiative to organize a heritage show, pledging to provide full support to form a committee to disseminate this experience across European countries. He said: “The idea is to spread knowledge about the customs and traditions of the UAE and its authentic popular heritage, and to highlight the civilized image of the country worldwide.” Moreover, His Highness underscored that the Emirati citizen must be a good Ambassador of his country, and must reflect the original values and customs of the UAE people.
His Highness also received a letter of thanks from the mayor of the Austrian city of Bad Hofgastein to the UAE people in appreciation for organizing this event, and in recognition of the good reputation enjoyed by the UAE nationals.
For his part, Abdullah Mohammed Al Shehhi; Organizer of the show in Austria, expressed his heartfelt happiness to meet his Highness. He also praised His Highness’s support and keenness to inculcate Emirati values in European societies, and reflect the bright and civilized image of the UAE. “This meeting gave us further motivation to organize similar initiatives to disseminate the authentic UAE heritage,” he indicated.
It is worth mentioning that the ceremony was organized by the UAE community in the Austrian city of Bad Hofgastein, in coordination with the competent authorities in the two countries. The show featured an open day to introduce Emirati customs and traditions of the UAE, and was attended by Mayor Fritz Zettinig, wearing the traditional Emirati attire. The attendees enjoyed the traditional Emirati musical performances and folklore shows, as well as the exhibition, which included a display of Emirati crafts, henna, and UAE cuisine. The organizers of the ceremony presented the mayor with a commemorative gift and distributed copies of the book «Zayed the Statesman», along with publications and CDs offered by the National Media Council and the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Tourism.
