Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, honored yesterday (Tuesday), First Warrant Officer Khalid Saeed Salem Alkaabi, from the ICT Department at Abu Dhabi Police, by awarding him the Community Service Medal. This honor was bestowed on First Warrant Officer Alkaabi for winning the Double Trap Men Gold medal at the Asian Olympic Shooting Qualifying Tournament, which was held recently in India. By winning the tournament, Alkaabi claimed a quota place for the upcoming Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

HH Sheikh Saif congratulated Alkaabi on achieving this accomplishment after a short period of training. He also stressed keenness for our country to remain a model for modernity, development and excellence, and urged the police staff members to pursue excellence in all fields, to heighten the achievements.

First Warrant Officer Khaled Alkaabi dedicated this achievement to the supreme leadership that motivates the country’s people to achieve leadership and excellence and raises the United Arab Emirates’ flag high in all the international forums. He also expressed his great pleasure at His Highnesses’ tribute, which is an honor. Alkaabi considered the recognition as an incentive for further achievement within sports, in order to reach the highest levels.

Khaled Alkaabi stole the show at the at the Asian Shooting Olympic Qualifier in New Delhi with a Rio 2016 quota place-earning gold medal in the double trap event . Alkaabi’s victory caught the attention of the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF), which published a report on its official website about him winning the Double Trap Men Gold medal. Alkaabi placed the UAE on the map of the Asian Olympic Shooting Qualifying Tournament medals’ standing, where the UAE team came in the sixth place with one gold medal, among big teams such as Taipei, China, Kazakhstan and Thailand.
