The Police Schools Department won the Human Resources Director General’s Shield at Abu Dhabi Police, ranking first with a total score of 106 points, in the second edition of the Human Resources Director General’s Shield Championships that concluded on Monday evening at the Police Staff Club. The championships were held as a part of the sports program organized and supervised by the Sports Activity Section, at the National Teams and Competitions Branch, the General Directorate for Strategy and Performance Development. 

Brigadier Obeid Salem Rashid Ali Al Habalah Al Ketbi, Director General of Human Resources at Abu Dhabi Police, attended the closing ceremony of the Seven-a-side Football Tournament. In the final game, the Police Schools Department team defeated the Training Department’s team, with a score of two to zero. Brigadier Al Ketbi honored the winning teams and individuals who took part in the nine tournaments, notably the road race tournament, bowling and walking for female staff members; and the road race tournament, walking, beach volleyball, bowling, seven-a-side football tournament for male staff members; in addition to the cultural competition. 

Brigadier Al Ketbi stressed the importance of physical fitness, as one of the key components to ensure successful policing and healthy community, capable of keeping pace with the work challenges and pressures. He also pointed out to the importance of spreading the sports culture among ADP staff members. He said: “Sports activities contribute to develop staff members’ physical and intellectual skills, enhance their performance, promote the spirit of competition among them, and strengthens social relations between the various police departments’ staff members.” He also noted that sport is an important factor in human development; it maintains the public health, and promotes productivity, excellence and creativity.

During the closing ceremony, Brigadier Al Ketbi honored the organizing committee’s officers and constables-, as well as the Seven-a-side football tournament referees, and the winning individuals and departments. He also presented the Human Resources Director General’s Shield, to the Police Schools Departments, represented by Colonel Waleed Al Shamesi, Director General of the Police College in Abu Dhabi.
