The Police Schools Department at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters was crowned champion of the second edition of the Tactical Shooting Championship. The Emergency and Public Safety Department came in second place and the Strategy and Performance Development Department ranked third. The championship was held at the shooting range at the Abu Dhabi Police Officers’ Club, as a part of the Sports Excellence Shield 2015 Championships organized by the Sports Activity Section at the Strategy and Performance Development Department. The Championship witnessed a strong competition between 60 participants, representing 20 departments from the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ.

Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Inspector General of the Ministry of Interior honored the winning teams. He emphasized that organizing shooting championships at the Ministry of Interior comes in response to the directives of the police leadership, which dedicates significant attention to sports in general and shooting in particular. “Shooting plays a prominent role in honing the skills of police staff members and boosting their capabilities and marksmanship effectiveness,” he said. Moreover, Major General Al Raisi explained that shooting is one of the most prestigious police sports skills, which highlights the skills and competencies of police officers, and reflects their readiness, endurance and self-control.

For his part, Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General, praised the outstanding level of participants throughout the championship. He also lauded the fierce and exciting competitive rivalry among the teams and individuals and the prevailing sportsmanship, which warrants the choice of the winning team to receive the Sports Excellence Shield for this year. In conclusion, the Strategy and Performance Development Director General expressed his sincere thanks for the sports teams and committees for their high technical performance, which contributed to the success of the championship.
