General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Brigadier Sheikh Mohammad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Brigadier Sheikh Mohammad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Director General of Security and Ports Affairs, attended the graduation ceremony of the first batch of officers who obtained a Diploma in Aviation and Airport Security.
During the ceremony, which took place at the Police Officers Club in Abu Dhabi, Brigadier Sheikh Mohammad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan asserted the commitment of the police leadership towards ensuring aviation and airports security. He said: “This approach falls in line with the efforts to promote security in society and reinforce the performance and efficiency of ports and airports security personnel. It also aims at encouraging security personnel to embrace the quality concept via the constant training process, which provides them with the necessary security skills and modern knowledge, to enhance their capabilities as they face challenges and obstacles.”
He also emphasized the Abu Dhabi Police keenness to keep pace with the latest scientific advances related to aviation and airport security, as per the finest international levels. “The Abu Dhabi Police are adamantly committed to providing their security personnel and staff members with the various disciplines, skills, scientific and practical methods, and modern equipment and devices to ensure ports and airports’ security and safety in the UAE; as well as offering sophisticated services to travelers, according to international quality standards in the police and security fields,” he continued.
For his part, Brigadier Khamis Musbah Al Marar, Head of the Ports and Airports Security Department at Abu Dhabi Police, explained that this specialized professional diploma in airport security is a strategic achievement for police work related to ensuring the protection and security of UAE airports. “This diploma falls within the training requirements at the Ports and Airports Security Department, and is consistent with the standard and international requirements adopted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and based on the UAE National Civil Aviation Security Program issued by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA),” he added.
He also noted that the Diploma in Aviation and Airport Security, which spanned over the course of 14 weeks, is being taught for the first time in the UAE and the Middle East by highly skilled experts and academics, in collaboration with the Elegant International College, certified by the International Civil Aviation Organization affiliated with the United Nations. “The diploma program included several topics, notably international and national legislations related to aviation and airports security; security management systems at international airports; and strategies for protecting planes, luggage, and cargo, among others,” he revealed.
Brigadier Al Marar extended his congratulations to the graduated officers, non-commissioned officers, and constables working at the Abu Dhabi Police and all partners. He urged them to forge ahead and double the efforts and to always seek to improve the work system, as per Abu Dhabi Police’s strategy. He also wished them the best of luck and success, and praised their commitment and distinguished participation in the course.
