The Ministry of Interior called upon citizens and residents to adhere to public safety and prevention requirements in the prevailing and unpredictable weather conditions accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds. The ministry also confirmed the readiness of all police authorities for such conditions according to the preset emergency plans.

Major General Jassem Muhammad Al Marzouqui, Commander-in-Chief of the Civil Defense at the Ministry of Interior, confirmed that no major accidents were reported by the time this was released, and rain water flooded houses in low-lying areas and civil defense staff members managed to pump it out immediately. Moreover, strong winds uprooted trees and flying debris was reported falling from construction sites.

Major General Al Marzouqui also called upon citizens and residents not to leave their homes unless necessary in such weather conditions; to follow prevention methods, and take the proper measures to prevent accidents of all kinds. He also urged them not to approach flood and landslide areas for their own safety.

Major General Al Marzouqui visited on Wednesday the Al Ain Civil Defense Department and followed up on the civil defense’s field work in these weather conditions. He also reviewed the workflow in the Operations Room and the measures adopted to enhance prevention and maintain public safety.

He noted that the Civil Defense have prepared for the unexpected weather conditions, by setting an emergency plan to improve readiness of its personnel and providing the necessary equipment to cope with emergency cases due to the prevailing weather conditions in the country.
