Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Assistant Undersecretary of Resources and Support Services, stressed on the importance of UAE Innovation Week as a new driver for growth to position the UAE amongst most innovative countries in the world by 2021.
These remarks were made by Major General Al Menhali during the lecture he delivered as a part of the UAE Innovation Week activities organized by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) at the Abu Dhabi Police Departments Complex. The lecture was attended by Brigadier Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General, at the Ministry of Interior and a number of police members from various departments.
“Celebrating innovation became an essential part of the MoI culture and values.It reflects the bright image and distinguished position attained by the MoI in seeking to implement the distinguished government’s policies and approaches,” noted Major General Al Menhali He also expressed his appreciation for the MoI’s staff members and their efficient efforts to develop police and security work mechanisms, as well as promoting the development and excellence approach adopted by the MoI.
Major General Al Menhali also encouraged the MoI’s staff members in all police and security fields to brave challenges armed with science and knowledge. He called upon them to pursue innovation in order to advance security work and to build an integrated teamwork culture with government institutions and various sectors. “This would enable us to step up to the responsibilities entrusted to us by the wise leadership, and to work diligently in order to keep pace with changes with the highest levels of professionalism and confidence,” he added.
Major General Al Menhali described innovation as the recipe for success. “Innovation has become a requirement, a need, and an ultimate goal, which is reflected in the efforts to boost the culture of development, leverage innovative ideas to find efficient solutions in an ideal work environment that promotes teamwork spirit,” he said.
“The UAE Innovation Week is not just a festive occasion; it is an opportunity to stress the need to spread the culture of innovation across the Abu Dhabi Police. The most challenging task is to keep forging ahead, innovating and advancing; because idleness leads to failure,” he added.
Major General Al Menhali called for elaborating innovative solutions and practices, instead of just copying best practices. He encouraged staff members to adopt innovation as culture and inherent lifestyle across all occupational levels. Major General Al Menhali also reviewed the experiences of a number of world countries that have managed to achieve a leading position in all fields by investing in knowledge and innovation.
Major General Al Menhali also reviewed the competitions organized by the Innovation Center, which aim to develop the MoI’s services as a part of the UAE Innovation Week activities at the Abu Dhabi Police Departments Complex.
He was briefed by Major Muhammad Al Harmoudi, Director of the Innovation Center at the Ministry of Interior, about the nature of the competitions organized by the center during the UAE Innovation Week, which aim to develop the MoI services provided for both citizens and residents of the UAE.
MoI Signs Cooperation Agreement with Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank in Innovation
On a related note, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) signed a cooperation agreement with the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) to provide for coordination and cooperation in innovation.
The agreement was signed by Brigadier Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General, and by Muhammad Ali Al Fahim, Regional Head, Corporate Banking, Abu Dhabi At Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank.
Under the agreement, both parties will develop cooperation and coordination in order to strengthen their partnership, foster relations; join efforts and exchange expertise, as well as to achieve the best performance in all areas of common interest, mainly innovation.
The agreement includes several articles including: implementing innovative ideas that are consistent with the needs of both parties; reviewing innovation-oriented practices adopted by both parties via workshops that would help to achieve the coveted objectives, in addition to adopting developmental projects that serve innovation.
