The Ministry of Interior discussed ways to reinforce efforts to spread the culture of human rights during a meeting held by the specialized committee chaired by Brigadier Ahmed Mohammed Nehkairah, Head of Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Interior. The meeting took place at Al Ittihad Hall at the Ministry of Interior’s headquarters in the presence of all of the committee members.

The meeting tackled a number of topics pertaining to human rights, notably the implementation of the recommendations included in the 2013-2014 Universal Periodic Review. Brigadier Nehkairah said: “The UAE is committed to pursuing its efforts to enhance human rights, in keeping with its leading position and special characteristics.” He also stressed the keenness of the police leaders and various departments to adopt procedures that guarantee human rights and follow-up on the different initiatives in this regard.

Moreover, Brigadier Nekhairah reiterated the commitment of the human rights committee k to preserve individual freedom, and the rights and dignity of all community members, through the country’s constitution, laws, and legislation that have been derived from our values and our righteous religion.  In conclusion, he stressed the need for civic cooperation to brainstorm new ideas that would reinforce and further spread the culture of human rights; as well as to reinforce collaboration and coordination with relevant entities. “By doing so, we will be able to reciprocate the generosity to our benevolent homeland and guarantee its safety and stability,” he noted.
