The Law Respect Culture Bureau, the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, organized two awareness lectures for students of Al Yasmina Private School in Khalifa City in Abu Dhabi.
The first lecture, titled “Patriotism: A Responsibility”, focused on the need to instill patriotism in younger generations and acquaint them with this significant value since the early stages of their psychosocial development, in order to promote their loyalty and sense of belonging. The second lecture, titled “Internet Security and Protection Methods”, discussed the safe use of the Internet.
Lieutenant Juma’a Muhammad Al Hosani, from the Community Education Section at the Law Respect Culture Bureau, who delivered both lectures, explained that patriotism and loyalty to the nation are better reflected in dedication to work, academic attainment and unlimited giving; as well as in the unrelenting commitment to serve the country and maintain its gains. He quoted late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan who said: “The country is the nucleus of the soul; it is the source of pride and life. There can be no life without a country; and love of country stems from faith. Our forefathers have strived diligently to protect this country despite the hardships they faced in life. Our sons and daughters must endeavor to protect this country, and be thankful for the blessings bestowed upon us by the Almighty Allah.”
Lieutenant Al Hosani also indicated that gratitude towards the country can be reciprocated by showing love for the leadership, society and family. It may also be reflected by maintaining public property, which represent a form of national gains; and by endeavoring to achieve excellence in all aspects of life. He also listed examples of leading Emiratis, who dedicated their life for the country and spared no effort to maintain its gains.
In the second lecture, titled “Internet Security and Protection Methods”, Lieutenant Al Hosani explained to students the benefits of the Internet as a form of modern technology and a source to expand scientific knowledge. He emphasized the need to use the Internet safely and responsibly, by highlighting the dangers and harmful effects of Internet misuse and abuse.
Lieutenant Al Hosani said: “The Internet carries an extensive range of useful information resources and allows children to practice their hobbies such as playing music, games, entertainment content and movies. The Internet can also facilitate and enhance student learning.” He also explained that despite the many positive effects of the Internet; for the youth, the negative aspects of the Internet include online risks such as exposure to sexually explicit material and online victimization by immoral people. This requires caution and consulting parents or teachers before downloading programs, chat applications, movies, or even games.
