The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) concluded its awareness campaign on light air sports which was launched early February. The nationwide campaign was held in cooperation with the Directorate General of Security Support at the Ministry of Interior (MoI), represented by the Air Support Department, and lasted two weeks.

H.E Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of GCAA, asserted that the campaign succeeded in spreading an awareness message about the legal regulations of practicing this sport. He valued the public’s response to the campaign and the public’s important inquiries, which enriched the campaign. He also expressed his gratitude to the Security Media Department for providing media support and coverage via its broadcast, print and social media channels.

Colonel Saeed Hussein Al Khajah, Director of Air Support Department at the Directorate General of Security Support, said, “The awareness campaign aimed to unite all efforts to deliver a purposeful message to the audience, individuals and companies throughout the UAE about the safe use of unmanned air vehicles in order to avoid punishments and legal accountability.”

He also noted that the awareness campaign on light air sports witnessed wide public response on the MoI social media channels. Thousands contributed on these channels via Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Google+. Throughout its duration, the campaign recorded 56,000 likes as well as hundreds of comments. He also praised the social media audience for their interaction with the campaign, which was organized by the GCAA in cooperation with the Air Support Department at the Directorate General of Security Support.
