The Medical Services Department at Abu Dhabi Police organized a set of medical lectures at the Ministry of Interior’s headquarters, and the Procurement and Warehouses Department of the Directorate General of Finance and Services at Abu Dhabi Police. The lectures are part of a medical initiative, aimed at highlighting awareness and prevention methods against cervical cancer, and the need for regular medical check-ups.

Captain Dr. Ali Omar Al Menhali, Health Education Branch Manager at the Medical Services Department at Abu Dhabi Police, said: “Improving and providing medical care for staff members and their families is one of the key priorities for the police leadership, which is keen to apply the most advanced standards of medical and healthcare.” He also stressed the department’s keenness to implement awareness activities and programs, and to participate in the various medical events in order to increase prevention awareness on the risks of chronic diseases and cancer, in conjunction with the international introductory and prevention campaigns regarding these diseases.

Dr. Rashida Mohammed Abbas, Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the Medical Services Department, said: “International statistics indicate that cervical cancer is the second cause of death for women worldwide, which confirms the importance of early detection through regular medical checkups.” In conclusion, she highlighted the various risk factors that may increase chances of developing cervical cancer.
