The Media and Public Relations Section at the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs Sector in the Ministry of Interior, recently organized an awareness lecture titled “Diabetes: Your Questions Answered” to mark the World Food Day. The lecture, which was organized in cooperation with the Diabetes Centre – Imperial College London, was delivered by Dr. Fatima Sadeq, Nutrition Specialist and held at the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs’ Headquarters.

The lecture falls in line with the health education program carried out by the Media and Public Relations Section at the Sector, with the aim of raising health awareness among staff members. It also aims at acquainting them with one of the most serious health problems that is prevalent in the Arab region and the means of prevention; by providing health-related information and guidance that urge them to follow healthy eating habits and to maintain a disease-free body.

Dr. Fatima Sadeq gave a complete overview of diabetes, its symptoms, complications, and methods of prevention. She stressed the need to follow healthy eating habits, exercise regularly, reduce food fats and calories, lose weight, reduce blood pressure, and lower cholesterol; which would improve the physical performance and reduce the risk of developing the disease.

The lecture was attended by Brigadier Saeed Rakan Al Rashidi, Director General of Naturalization; Colonel Awad Al Marar, Head of the Naturalization and Passports Department; along with a number of officers and staff members at the Sector.

Towards the end of the lecture, Dr. Fatima Sadeq, was honored for her contributions to the sector’s health education program.
