Major General Omair Mohammed Al Muhairi, Director of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, was briefed on the efforts, awareness programs, and control efforts carried out by the Anti-Drug Section. He emphasized the importance of such efforts to reinforce the campaigns aimed at fighting drugs. He also indicated that the Abu Dhabi Police endeavor, as per the directives of police leadership, to address and combat the scourge of drugs in various ways.

These remarks were made by Major General Al Muhairi, while making an inspection visit to the Anti-Drug Section affiliated with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Major General Al Muhairi was greeted upon arrival by Colonel Dr. Rashid Mohammad Borshid, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Colonel Sultan Suwayeh Al Darmaki, Chief of the Anti-Drug Section, and a number of officers.

Major General Al Muhairi stressed the need to double the efforts in order to combat drugs and protect the youth against falling prey to drugs; which affects the development plans established by the UAE, which rely on young people to achieve the coveted aspirations. He also highlighted the vital role of the Anti-Drug Section in crime prevention, most prominently in the fight against drugs.

Furthermore, he stressed the Abu Dhabi Police’s keenness to promote prevention efforts in collaboration with anti-drugs institutions. He also urged the public to participate and interact with the campaigns organized by the Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to spread awareness on the risks posed by narcotics and other psychotropic substances that threaten the future of generations.

During his visit, Major General Al Muhairi inspected the various branches affiliated with the Anti-Drug Section; reviewed the workflow at the different organizational units; and urged employees to achieve the objectives of Abu Dhabi Police GHQ.

The Chief of the Anti-Drug Section at Abu Dhabi Police called upon the public to cooperate positively during the awareness-raising campaigns and control efforts made by the section by reporting any incident that may undermine security and tranquility of society, by calling the Aman service number on 8002626. He also highlighted the need to raise awareness of families to help their children choose good companionship, stay away from bad companions, and acquaint them with the useful means to fill their leisure time,  and prevent them from falling prey to the drug affliction.
