The Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi, represented by the Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Al Ain, hosted the third forum for best practices in service provision for seniors and people with special needs. The forum, which was held to mark the International Day of Older Persons, was attended by a number of government entities and departments from Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Al Ain.

Colonel Khalifa Matar Balquba' Al Humairi, Director of the Residency and Foreigners' Affairs Department in Al Ain, stressed the keenness of the department to organize this forum on an annual basis. He noted: “This forum embodies the vision of our wise leadership, which stipulates the need to cater to the needs of the elderly in recognition for their contributions and their prominent role in founding our nation; to exert further efforts towards caring for individuals and families; and to support initiatives that meet the expectations of this category.”

Adding further, he said: “seniors deserve all kind of support. This requires concerted efforts from the various government institutions, in order to tailor distinguished services and healthcare programs that are age-appropriate for the benefit of this important category.”

Representatives of participating entities submitted work papers on the services they offer to the elderly and people with special needs, as well as on their efforts to rehabilitate and care for them.

Colonel Al Humairi honored the entities participating in the Forum; who expressed their heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the initiative sponsored by the Al Ain Residency. They noted that the Forum represents an opportunity to share successful experiences between institutions and service providers, which would ultimately contribute to raising the level of provided services.

In the same context, Al Dhabyaniah Committee at the Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi celebrated the International Day of Older Persons by distributing gifts and flowers to old female customers.

For her part, Captain Badria Al Fazari, Chairperson of the Committee emphasized that this marking this occasion aims to achieve noble goals, by shedding the light on the important role played by the elderly in building the community and is intended to share with them  the joy of the occasion.
