Major General Pilot Sheikh Ahmad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of the National and Reserve Service Authority at the UAE Armed Forces General Command inspected the second Adventures Students’ Camp. The camp is organized by the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program ‘Aqdar’, in partnership with the Armed Forces, Ministry of Education, Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai.

Major General Pilot Sheikh Ahmad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan attended with the audience a military show presented by participating students in the second phase of the camp. The students gave different military performances, including the dismantling and assembly of weapons, which reflected their patriotism, their talents and their competency.

During his visit to the Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institute in Al Shahama area, Major General Pilot Sheikh Ahmad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan encouraged students to avail of this camp and the leading experience provided by the various activities. The camp helps fostering national feelings, instilling national identity, and instilling enthusiasm in students. He also called upon the students to exert further efforts and seize this opportunity to acquire skills that will help them significantly in their practical and academic life.

He also noted that these Camps are valuable opportunities for students that prepare them physically and psychologically for the National Service. He also asserted that these Camps are organized in an energetic environment based on encouraging adventures and regular training.

For his part, Colonel Dr. Ibrahim Al Dabal, General Coordinator of the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program ‘Aqdar’, explained that the second Adventures Students Camps are the result of the fruitful strategic cooperation and partnership between the Ministry of Education, Abu Dhabi Education Council, Armed Forces, and Khalifa Student Empowerment Program (Aqdar). The Adventures Students Camp’s activities included sporting activities to increase participants’ physical fitness, mountain climbing and rowing exercises, as well as visits to heritage locations and lectures on the history of the UAE. The camp also included basic military training, which focused on field training, camouflage, guard patrols’ training, monitoring and night navigation.

Major General Pilot Sheikh Ahmad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan was accompanied during his visit with Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, ADEC’s Executive Director of School Operations; Eng. Abdul Rahman Al Hammadi, Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institute Manager; Ghanem Salem Zaabi, Vocational Education and Training Center Manager; Major Saqr Al Ahbabi from Khalifa Student Empowerment Program; and a number of the Program coordinators and administrators.

It is worth mentioning that the Adventures Students Camp features a very busy program; including a wide variety of thrilling and challenging sports activities; national awareness lectures, personal skills, health and safety, and crime prevention; as well as a set of skill-promoting activities, and educational and heritage visits. The camp also includes theoretical and practical training workshops to introduce students to leadership tactics and skills.  

The Camp program was prepared in accordance with the highest standards to ensure optimum results with support from the Aqdar Program staff and Armed Forces. The Camps program include physical fitness program for students who need them in order to enhance their physical fitness, and provide them with leadership skills that will encourage them in the future to join the National Service.

The Camp will conclude its activities tomorrow (Thursday), with a graduation ceremony for students, to be attended by a number of officials. The students will assess the program with the aim of improving it, in the presence of their parents, and top-achieving student will be recognized. The ceremony will also include a number of events and activities to encourage the students and others to join such a leading national initiative.
