A total of 10 personnel from the Emergency and Public Safety Department at Abu Dhabi Police have completed their rope rescue training, which consists of rope rescue procedures in high places and in areas with difficult and severely rugged terrain. The training was conducted in cooperation between the Ministry of Interior and the French Embassy.
Colonel Mohammed Ibrahim Al Ameri, Head of the Emergency and Public Safety Department at Abu Dhabi Police noted that the trainees used the most advanced and sophisticated mechanisms during for such difficult field missions that take place in areas of rough terrain or high elevation, commensurate with the highest international standards. “Throughout the training, the personnel demonstrated their skills in implementing their tasks. They have proven their abilities and readiness to deal with operations that involve rope rescues from high places”, he said.
Colonel Al Ameri handed over certificates to the participants who passed the stages of training, which took place in Al Shalila area. The training course included various field applications on the use of rope, which include the skills needed to ascend and descend along the ropes and to hoist injured persons from high-rise buildings.
For his part, Lt. Col. Omar Al Dhaheri, Head of the Training Section at the Department, pointed out that the field training exercises would enhance the readiness and capacities of the rescue personnel to handle any rescue operation that requires their intervention. “The Department introduces the most advanced and sophisticated international means and methods in the training system used in this regard,” he concluded.
