Arab Traffic Week 2015, which kicks off next Sunday, will be celebrated by the Abu Dhabi Police, represented by the Directorate of Traffic and Patrols, alongside the camaraderie of other Arab traffic entities. The Arab Traffic Week, which is held under the slogan “Start with Yourself… Be Committed”, will be held through 9 May. The program is a part of the joint efforts dedicated to promote personal responsibility in the compliance of traffic laws, and to reduce the causes of traffic accidents that may result in serious injury or death.
Colonel Jamal Salem Al Ameri, Chief of Public Relations Section at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police, pointed out that the awareness programs organized during the Arab Traffic Week are a form of community outreach that aim to: foster partnership with various societal segments; preserve life and property; and pursue the strategy of the police to improve traffic safety indicators.
Adding further, Colonel Al Ameri indicated that the events are organized in cooperation with the Saaed Society to Reduce Traffic Accidents and will include the distribution of roses to drivers and at traffic lectures. He said: “The Directorate relentlessly endeavors to ensure the highest levels of community awareness regarding the importance of complying with the rules and etiquette of traffic. We hope to reach out to citizens and residents alike by carrying out programs like this.” He continued by urging everyone to adhere to the enforced laws and regulations of the country. Correspondingly, he additionally advised to always carry valid vehicle and driving licenses and to be prepared to submit them to the officers of the police and traffic patrols upon their request in order to avoid any legal repercussions.
