The Emergency and Public Safety Department at Abu Dhabi Police has installed two automatic defibrillators (for cardiopulmonary resuscitation) in the buildings of the Federal National Council (FNC) and the Directorate of Traffic and Patrols in Abu Dhabi. This step was taken as a response to the directions of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to install defibrillators in public places across the UAE.

A special team from the Emergency and Public Safety Department has taken the responsibility to train the staff members of the Federal National Council (FNC) and the Directorate of Traffic and Patrols on how to operate the device.

The defibrillator is used when an individual shows symptoms of a heart attack or circulatory failure (ischemia). Symptoms include fainting, irregular breathing, weak or absent pulse, or absence of any signs of circulatory activity.
