The drones of the Air Support Department at Abu Dhabi Police, in cooperation with the Directorate of Traffic and Patrols, contribute towards facilitating a smooth flow of traffic in the vicinity of and around the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, as well as inside the parking lots allocated for worshippers. These measures are in line with the directorate’s strategy aimed at providing the best services and strengthening the security and safety of the community.

Colonel Saeed Hussein Al Khajah, Director of the Air Support Department at Abu Dhabi Police, pointed out that the Air Support drones are ready; and will be used to monitor the roads, help reduce congestion, and ensure the smooth flow of traffic during peak hours, such as during the last 10 days of Ramadan.

Col. Al Khajah stressed the keenness of the police leadership to stay abreast of developments and to diversify its services to include various fields. “The Air Support Department plays a vital role in supporting. We endeavor to provide groundbreaking police services that are developed for numerous circumstances,” he added.

Adding further, the Director of the Air Support Department pointed out that the department carries out several functions. The department utilizes its qualified and highly trained human resources and unmanned drones equipped with on-board cameras to support the police and security-related activities. The drones are characterized by state-of-the-art Full HD video technology that accurately monitors the surrounding area and thoroughly examine traffic flow by strictly following-up with the event. The drones are capable of covering a wide geographical area, which enables field patrols and support teams to make the most appropriate decisions to facilitate traffic or handle emergency situations based on their ability to accurately examine the traffic situation.
