The myriad of activities held as a part of the week-long safety awareness exhibition with the theme “We Care about Your Safety”, witnessed significant turnout and interaction from the public.  The Exhibition was organized by Saaed Society to Reduce Traffic Accidents, in line with the unified programs of the Arab Traffic Week, in cooperation with the Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police.

According to Colonel Jamal Salem Al Ameri, Executive Director of the Saaed Society to Reduce Traffic Accidents, the exhibition managed to achieve the coveted objective; to reinforce the positive role of drivers; urge them to abide by traffic laws; and support the efforts made to reduce traffic accidents and preserve lives and property.

Colonel Al Ameri commended the public’s positive interaction with the activities of the Arab Traffic Week, through their participation in traffic competitions, which included traffic information about traffic laws and the most common mistakes drivers make on the roads. Students of 15 schools affiliated to the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), took part in addressing awareness messages to their parents in the form of traffic anthems, educational shows about traffic safety, poems and theater performances.

Adding further, Colonel Al Ameri said: “The Traffic and Patrols Directorate participated with several platforms where it displayed its smart patrols, traffic bikes and radar devices. The Emirates Driving Company (EDC) exhibited its driving training vehicles and awareness brochures.” Emirates Transport; the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC); the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department; and the Emergency and Public Safety Department also took part in the exhibition.

The exhibition also included a traffic-related educational village, a workshop for drawing, and recreational shows. Awareness brochures and booklets were also distributed, in order to enhance the positive role of drivers in abiding by traffic laws to protect lives and property. The Police Music Band also gave musical performances, while the Security Inspection Department (K9) presented exciting Police Dogs Shows.

Colonel Al Ameri called upon all segments of society to intensify the efforts to curtail the risks of traffic accidents. He also stressed the commitment of the Saaed Society to Reduce Traffic Accidents to pursue its dedicated mission and innovative initiatives aimed at instilling social responsibility and further spreading the traffic culture. “This would achieve the coveted impact in support of our messages that encourage safe driving, and promote traffic safety standards amongst all segments of society,” he concluded.
