The Board of the Police Sports Federation approved its activities for the new season 2012/2013 including the locations, venues, and activities, which consist of more than 45 activities locally and abroad.

The periodic meeting was chaired by Councilor Abdullah Salem bin Nasra Al Amri, President of the Federation at the headquarters in Abu Dhabi, and attended by Major General Muhammed Saeed Al Mari Vice President, in addition to the members of the federation.

The President inaugurated the meeting by welcoming the attendees and congratulating them on the success of the 2011-2012 sports season. He also commended their efforts and expressed the keenness of police leadership to ensure active and positive participation in all championships and events.

As per the program of activities, the events included the social sports activities such as: “The Police and the Society 5” which will be held in Ajman during coming November and December. Additionally, the activities of police headquarters and general departments (official championships and activities) will include 19 championships hosted by the police headquarters and general departments throughout the season.

The program included the activities of police academies, schools and training centers, which include the self-defense championship No. 5 that will be hosted by the police academy in Sharjah. The sports activities of the Ministry of Interior No. 6 held in April in 2013 in Abu Dhabi were also included in addition to participations abroad as per the plans and programs of the Arab and international police federations.

The board adopted the plan of meetings held abroad with both Arab and international police federations; the consultative meeting of heads of GCC Federations during the season; the plan of training courses and programs, seminars and lectures in cooperation with Leadership Training Center in Dubai and other national sports federations and entities; and organizing a sports conference during 2013 in addition to two other sports seminars. The first seminar to be held in May 2012 is about sports investment and the second seminar, to be held in October 2013will pertain to sports administration.

In line with the board’s dedication to development and advancement, it has adopted suggestions leading to developing sports championships and activities. This commitment requires holding meetings between the administration of the federation and representatives of police headquarters and general departments at the end of the previous season. The board also approved a number of amendments and developments of different sports championships and activities.

Recommendations of the Police Shooting Championship Development Committee were also adopted, since this is considered to be one of the most important events of the federation.

The Shooting Federation’s invitation to participate in establishing and training the Olympic National Shooting Team (men and women) was welcomed by the Board.

It announced the hosting of the Gulf Brotherhood 12th Meeting in Al Ain from 16-25 November 2012, stressing its enthusiasm to utilize all potentials in serving the brotherhood within the UAE shooting federation in line with the willingness to give an honorable image of the country on different sporting occasions.

It decided to add new sports such as Olympic Rowing by organizing the first championship at the UAE level during the new season. This sport was added after coordination and cooperation between the police federation and the UAE Rowing Federation.
