Participants from 13 member countries of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) discussed developing and updating the organization’s bulletins. They reviewed the latest updates and praised the efforts made by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in this field.
The 10th meeting of the consultative committee on bulletins at the INTERPOL met today at the Al Raha Beach Hotel in Abu Dhabi.
Major Mubarak Al Kheli, Head of the INTERPOL’s National Central Bureau in Abu Dhabi, said: “The 10th meeting of the consultative committee on bulletins is held for the first time in the MENA region. The meeting focuses on developing and updating these announcements, which are major tools used by the INTERPOL. It is an opportunity to involve employees in this region to help develop bulletins by participating in this meeting, which hosts heads of the national central bureaus across the world.”
During the opening speech, he added: “The INTERPOL Executive Committee has unanimously adopted a decision to review procedures related to issuing bulletins. The committee agreed to form a consultative committee, which includes representatives from member countries, to provide consultancy regarding field and legal issues related to the proposed changes to the bulletin system.”
He said that the team focuses on the police information exchange process among member countries, and how to develop this exchange in order to enhance services provided by INTERPOL members. “Participants suggest proper recommendations and they will work to activate them via practical procedures on the ground,” he explained.
Emmanuel Leclaire, Assistant Director of the Command and Coordination Center at the INTERPOL, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the UAE for hosting the conference and praised the country’s efforts in developing the INTERPOL’s bulletins. “Previous meetings have delivered many achievements such as organizing training courses and continually developing and evaluating reports. We wish all members best of luck in their endeavors,” he added in his speech.
During the meeting, Assistant Director of the Command and Coordination Center at the INTERPOL, reviewed the previous meeting’s recommendations, approved the agenda, and delivered a general overview of the bulletins (statistics) and the efforts of the member countries to improve them.
Catherine Plano, Assistant Director of the Sub-Department for Police Data Management and the I-link system, reviewed the implementation of the data management system, while Scott Allan, INTERPOL’s bureau in Ottawa, delivered a presentation on bulletins focusing on certain cases.
Dina Harb, Legal Attaché at the Legal Issues Bureau, INTERPOL, delivered a presentation on the latest updates on the bulletins and highlighted a number of related matters. Peter Ambs, Project Leader of INTERPOL’s FAST and efficient international Disaster victim Identification (FASTID) reviewed the latest updates on
