Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate called upon pilgrims traveling by land and pilgrims’ transportation campaigns to comply with the loads limits permitted on the roofs of the vehicles which must not exceed 60 cm in height.

Excesses loads might possibly cause the vehicles to lose balance and becomes difficult to control.

Brigadier Engineer Hussein al Harithi, Director of Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate stressed on continuation of the operational and awareness efforts to ensure the safety of pilgrims through intensifying traffic patrol vehicles on the Abu Dhabi – Al Ghwaifat road and providing them with traffic awareness pamphlets and a book on Hajj and Umra.

SAAED company for traffic systems has contributed to these efforts by providing 4wd vehicles  staffed with highly qualified technical personnel who deliver assistance in case that pilgrims buses and other vehicles suffer any mechanical breakdowns, pointed out Al Harithi.

He urged pilgrims transport companies to ensure that they have allocated buses that conform to technical specifications and are suitable to long land journeys. They should also make sure that buses are fully maintained before traveling and an assistant driver is provided to exchange driving with the main bus driver. This will help avoid traffic accidents occurring due to exhaustion of drivers during long journeys.

Bus drivers are called to abide by speed limits both inside the country and within Saudi Arabia and are advised to stop driving when they feel tired and take a rest before continuing their journey.
