German Police review K9 tasks
A delegation from German Police visited the Security Inspection Department (K9), of the Directorate General of Security and Ports Affairs at Abu Dhabi Police, on Sunday. The visit was part of the visits exchanged between the two sides to share experiences in police dogs training areas.
Lt. Colonel Jamal Habash, Director of K9 Department received the visiting delegation at the Department premises. The delegation was headed by Major Borge Nester, officer in Charge of Police Dogs Team at vailegien Police. He briefed the delegation on the genesis, growth, present status, tasks and duties of the Department.
He also briefed them on his Departments participation in search and rescue services abroad since 2005. These include search and rescue services during the earthquakes disasters in Pakistan and Indonesia. The trained dogs succeeded in detecting date palm red worm in its three stages. He explained to them the introduction of female element in dogs training and different services to the public such as treatment and vaccination of dogs. Then the delegation toured the Security Inspection Section including dogs' yards and veterinary clinic. The delegation also learned about the followed procedures to carry out tasks. The delegation also paid a visit to Emirates Dog Breeder Society.
According to Lt. Colonel Habash, the visit was in accordance with the three-year agreement signed by two parties to exchange dog training experiences, instructors training and supervision of training programmes. The delegation will visit tomorrow K9 Branch at Abu Dhabi International Airport.
The delegation comprises Major Claudia Deit, Deputy O/C of Police Dog Team at Vailegien Police Department, Major Groos Man, and Director of Police Trainers School in Stuttgart City, Captain Frank Hoffman, O/C of Training and Training Development, Captain Yourge Fayls, O/C of Rescue Team and Captain Berund Coever O/C of Documents.
